FREDERICKSBURG RACQUET CENTER

COMING SPRING 2026

The Community Racquet Center Dream

The Fredericksburg Racquet Center is a new non-profit initiative involving the City of Fredericksburg, the Austin-based Fueling Tennis Futures Foundation, tennis and pickleball professionals, community leaders, and racquet sports enthusiasts. Discussions about a community racquet center began in the fall of 2023, following survey results from the City of Fredericksburg’s Parks Master Plan, which showed a strong need for more pickleball and tennis courts, as well as walking trails in our community.

For the racquet center, the City has allocated 20 acres on Friendship Lane and envisions a central location, easily accessible for the growing local neighborhoods and the public middle and high school campuses.

We have a letter of intent from the City, in which the City agrees to develop a long-term lease contract, at no cost, for the use of the property as a racquet facility. It will be a public access facility available for use by all Fredericksburg citizens. The Fredericksburg Racquet Center will own the facility. The facility will be operated by a third party, RPM Academy, a Foundation-supported, experienced tennis and pickleball professional group relocating from Austin. The model is similar to the successful model used for Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course.

The racquet center will offer affordable membership rates.

It also will serve as a training facility for youth tennis players in the Hill Country area and will host at least four tennis and pickleball tournaments for juniors and adults each year. Proceeds from the tournaments will go toward membership and junior player development scholarships.

The team behind the community racquet center project brings together many years of experience in playing and instructing tennis and pickleball, fueled by a shared passion for these sports. Many of us grew up with racquet sports and have raised young athletes, witnessing firsthand the valuable life lessons it imparts—discipline, resilience, focus, self-confidence and stress relief. We understand the superb benefits of racquet sports and are committed to making racquet sports more accessible to everyone in our town, especially the youth.

In partnership with the City, the Fredericksburg Racquet Center is uniquely qualified to improve the recreational offerings in Fredericksburg. There is a great community need; the City has donated the land; the land is well-suited for such a park and facility; we have experts to run the racquet center, and we have community leaders dedicated to seeing the project and facility to completion. We are an ideal example of a grassroots community effort, bringing together skills, talents and passion for the betterment of the town we love.

We chose this project based on the need for recreational facilities and because we know the positive impact a facility like this will have on our community. We chose this project because we believe our children and young people, especially, but also our families, adults, and retirees, too, will benefit from additional access to healthy, fun activities.

Join us in rallying for our community, for our kids and for our future! Help us make the racquet center a reality!
